Pernille Lind, MA. Spatial Design, The Royal Danish Academy. BA (Hons) Design for Branded Spaces, London College of Communication, University of the Arts London.
With over 15 years of industry experience in hospitality and residential design, Pernille has worked with some of the top studios in London, including Anouska Hempel Design, Conran + Partners, and Soho House Co. As one half of the design duo Lind + Almond, she won ‘Renovation & Restoration’ and ‘Hotel of the Year’ at the AHEAD Europe Awards 2018 for their inaugural project, Hotel Sanders, in Copenhagen.
Pernille’s creative approach blends Scandinavian design aesthetics with Asian decorative and material influences. Raised by a family that valued crafted designs, she grew up traveling the world. Her grandfather ran a family workshop upholstering furniture and supplying decorative materials; her father, an engineer, taught her about the art of sculpture through bridges and rhythmic structures; and her mother, who owned two antique shops in Bangkok, instilled in her an appreciation for objects with a story.
Pernille possesses a natural intuition and sensibility that enable her to grasp the briefs and aspirations of her clients and projects. She leads her team through all phases of the design process, infusing each project with her distinctive style.
Established in 2018 Pernille Lind Studio has already achieved an impressive portfolio of work, spanning across residential and commercial projects from listed buildings to new-builds, luxury developments and commercial properties, with completed projects in the US, Asia and multiple locations in Europe.
Pernille’s team design all aspects of interior architecture, bespoke joinery, sourcing of furnishings and the final styling. The studio style is characterised by Pernille’s Scandinavian and Asian background, however paying attention to context and historical details inspire their design schemes in such a way to give each project detail and character.
Core to our approach is a personable and practical hands-on service, which supports our clients, in often new territory, in order to achieve their aspirations and success of each project.
We specialise in designing layouts and optimising spaces through careful analysis of flow, function, and construction.
Our projects often commence with an existing building that requires complete renovation, or involve new builds. Collaborating closely with our clients, project architects, and contractors, we create spaces that align perfectly with project briefs. The interior architecture serves as both the foundation and backdrop for our interior schemes, whilst meticulous attention to finer details enhances the overall design.
We strive to create timeless interiors by understanding the locality and context. This awareness allows us to anchor our designs within their environment, reflecting the unique character and heritage of each property.
Our process is straightforward; it’s holistic and collaborative. We believe that the best results emerge from a collective effort, where ideas can be freely exchanged and developed. However, to achieve a high level of quality and functionality, we work methodically to evaluate the practicalities of each space, with a strong emphasis on attention to detail and feasibility.
We are imaginative yet practical designers who love to explore new materials and broaden our knowledge. Our curiosity drives us to push the boundaries of creativity while maintaining a grounded approach to functionality.
We place great importance on the furniture and joinery pieces we select or design, ensuring that they are not only well-crafted and aesthetically pleasing but also appropriately styled for their context. Central to our design ethos is collaboration with local makers, which allows us to support the community and infuse our projects with authenticity and character.
