Background

Nestled atop picturesque hills, with panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, sits Monte Estoril, Portugal.

This intimate residential complex, known as S.H.E., comprises just 11 apartments and 5 villas, on a peaceful tree-lined street in one of Europe’s safest and most exclusive neighbourhoods.

The homes boast luxurious finishes and total seclusion from the noise of the city, making it a peaceful sanctuary to call home. Spacious balconies and terraces offer beautiful views, and most enjoy private gardens and heated pools or hot tubs.

The Brief

We saw this commercial interior design project as a unique opportunity to establish a relationship between the site’s local history, the listed heritage building – named Villa Sarah, and the new architecture. Marrying past and present by creating a contemporary interior scheme for all four Villa types and public spaces that would cater to the lifestyles of both national and international buyers.

Bespoke Interior Design

To establish the basis of our designs, we developed a distinctive character description for each of the villa types. Villa Patio is the modern and urban dwelling with a cool and earthy undertone of materiality and textures. Meanwhile, Villa Emma and Helena are more refined and feminine, featuring elegant detailing and carefully chosen materials. Villa Sarah’s traditional ornamentation and decor were expanded upon with respect, incorporating elements of Scandinavian design that emphasize functionality, simplicity, and natural materials. We introduced iron shower doors and partitions, a Shaker kitchen with dramatic marbles, and rich colours with pastel accents to complement the villa’s grand aesthetic.
