Background

Perched on scenic hills overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Monte Estoril, Portugal, stands as one of the most exclusive and secure neighbourhoods in Europe.

S:H:E. is an intimate private condominium, comprising just 11 apartments and 5 villas, discreetly nestled on a serene, tree-lined street. The development offers superb finishes and complete privacy, providing an escape from urban noise. Residences feature expansive balconies or terraces with breathtaking views, while many also enjoy private gardens with heated pools or hot tubs.

The Brief

Pernille Lind Studio approached this project as a unique opportunity to connect the rich history of the area, the heritage-listed Villa Sarah, and the new architectural design. The challenge was to harmonise the old and the new, developing a contemporary Scandinavian commercial design for all four villa types and the shared public areas. The goal was to offer modern interiors that appeal to both national and international buyers, aligning with contemporary Scandinavian design principles.

Bespoke Interior Design

For each villa type, we developed a unique character profile that formed the foundation of our designs. Villa Patio, with its cool and earthy tones, offers a modern, urban aesthetic. Villa Emma and Villa Helena are more feminine and elegant, reflected in the choice of detailing and materials. Villa Sarah, steeped in traditional details, provided us with a classic foundation to build upon. We extended this timeless style with crafted elements such as iron shower doors, a Shaker-style kitchen featuring dramatic marbles, and a palette of rich colors paired with soft pastel accents.
