Background

Located just behind the Royal Palace Amalienborg in Copenhagen, Amaliegade is the site of this project, a period property that was once a grand apartment and has now been transformed into a homely yet modern Scandinavian office interior for our client.

The Brief

The objective was to create a workplace that embodies the principles of modern Scandinavian aesthetics, offering an office design that is warm and welcoming and reflects the comforts of home. The property’s layout and characteristics aligned perfectly with this vision. The new office spaces are distributed across two floors, strategically accommodating breakout areas, formal and informal meeting rooms, hot desking, and private offices, while ensuring privacy and managing noise levels.

Bespoke Design:

We designed bespoke directors’ desks in American walnut, featuring chocolate brown leather inlays and brass trims, all reflecting the minimalist elegance associated with modern Scandinavian design aesthetics. The open workspaces boast specially designed desks with tapered legs in walnut and brass plinths, maintaining a clean and functional aesthetic. Oversized bookcases with brass detailing and chunky bull-nose profile edges serve as striking focal points in the grand boardroom, while unique filing cabinets, engineered in collaboration with NOVOCASTRIAN and finished in hand-patinated brass, stand out as essential pieces in both the offices and shared workspaces.

In keeping with the principles of modern Scandinavian office interiors, bespoke joinery was tailored to suit each space’s specific functions, and unique antique pieces were sourced alongside specially commissioned art from a local artist, further enhancing the overall design.
